Agreed. (Though it sounds like OP didn't tell their friends they were going away, and they probably should have. OP has no way of knowing they didn't worry or miss them at all.)

Anyway, there are lots of reasons why your friends might not have wanted to IM or email you. Like anon says, maybe they assumed you needed time away and didn't want to pressure you, or hey, they could have their own shit to deal with and it might've slipped their mind. Whatever their reasons, it doesn't have to automatically mean they don't care about you.

Also, to some people a month isn't all that long. Before I had my cell phone I didn't talk to my online friends nearly as often as I do now.
