OP didn't say they did it for attention, but they sure as hell did say that they're leaving forever and their previous friendships were meaningless because they didn't get the amount of concern they wanted to get, even if they weren't fishing for it.

IDGAF if people are sad that they didn't get the attention they wanted. Everybody likes attention. But flouncing in a huff and declaring all their friendships meaningless because nobody tried to contact someone who "needed a break"? is asshole behavior

I see this acronym occasionally, but Google turns up nothing relevant. What does "DA" mean?

I'm not saying that OP's reaction isn't selfish and childish. It is.

But saying that "friends shouldn't give a shit about you because they have their own lives" just means they're really shitty friends, IMO. I've never had friends that would disregard caring about me out of their own convenience, or just because it's "expected" because people are "only concerned with themselves." Nor would I put up with that.

And the post I was responding to accused them of dropping out specifically to see if anyone would notice.
