Where are you getting the "fact" that they're mostly watched by men?

"But other critically acclaimed series have a far bigger gender divide; the 2.6 million viewers for Season 5 of AMC’s Breaking Bad were a mere 36 percent female."

More men are watching these shows than women.

And what's true for Breaking Bad, which as someone else said is actually very different from The Wire when it comes to structure, plot, characters etc., must be true for The Wire? Right.
