Well, I think they wanted him to have desires now that he's finally human. The consensus is that because she's a woman, that that is dirty het and so she must be loathed. And how dare the writers 'shit on their fandom'. I guess they forgot not everyone who watches SPN ships Destiel, or ships anything really.

Ah, okay, I didn't know he was human mow - I stopped watching a few seasons ago.
However, I have to say I'm not surprised at the reactions. The ship-tease - from what I've heard - was pretty extreme, wasn't it?

Considering SPN has a habit of doing "haha, isn't that awkward and funny that a guy said something like that to another guy", I'd say it wasn't meant to be taken as romantic. Slash goggles and whatnot.

Dean also abandoned Cas after he lost his usefulness, so...I'd betting that it wasn't the sweeping slash romance they thought it was.
