What's the show the picture on the far right from?

[Sorry, don't really know anything about the actor, so I can't really add anything.]

(Anonymous) 2013-09-24 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Hornblower.

(Although I'm not a fan of his, I do think the OP is watching a different version of Law and Order UK to me.)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-24 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, he's a little too smug smuggy poo.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-25 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, floater was my first thought too. He's just too slick.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-24 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
See, this is why Fat!Apollo was the best. He was extra smug and extra useless and Adama called him on it in the best fashion.

I cried when he died on Law and Order: UK. I didn't super care for Apollo, but I really liked him on L&O. Matt and Ronnie's father/son relationship was the best part for me. They were always cracking me up and then injecting something sweet.

I didn't understand why they killed him off in that, I agree, I liked him and the father/son dynamic.

I don't even know what he's doing these days. I remember seeing him interviewed and he seemed to want to stay with L and O as long as possible as he wanted his kids to go to the same school he did in London, so wanted work there.

IIRC Bamber wanted to leave and his character to have a very final ending (probably so they wouldn't be tempted to have him back on as a guest star).

I find him to be Marty Sue in Hornblower. There's no Archie in books, by the way. (Hornblower was delirious and thought him up))
I ship other characters, so I scroll past any Horatio/Archie. I get somewhat annoyed by how many such fics are out there, but to each...

(Anonymous) 2013-09-25 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
More like Woobie Stu. Is there such a thing? Wouldn't surprise me. But he doesn't accomplish enough for your classic Marty Stu.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-26 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Woobie Stu! This is the word I have been looking for to describe was bothers me about Archie for ages. Thank you, anon!

(Anonymous) 2013-09-25 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. Far too much Archie, far too little Mr Bush.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-25 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm going to assume that's a pubic hair reference.

(And before you say I haven't seen the show, we are talking about the same Hornblower with the pointlessly gratuitous shower scenes, right? The one that features a man straddling a cannon between his thighs and calling "Give me the red hot balls!"?)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-25 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Lieutenant Bush is an important character in both the book and the last.. three to four episodes of the series.

There was only a single shower scene, and while it was fanservicy, it had its purpose. I don't remember the cannon scene, but it seems to have made a strong impression on you.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-26 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
the cannon scene was in the same two-parter as the shower scene, but a very insignificant, blink-and-you'll-miss it moment as they're training the fort's guns on the Spanish privateers.

The show is rather slashy and fanservice-y though - albeit not nearly as slashy and fanservice-y as the original books (hardly anything could be as slashy as the books, tbh).

He's not my favorite either, OP.

Season 1!Apollo was awesome. But after that, I think the writers just had no idea what they wanted to do with him.

Jamie Bamber however is awesome and super nice. And he has really neat handwriting.

You'd find him to be somewhat refreshing in Outcasts, then - he's pretty crazy and dies in the first episode.

I wasn't totally enthused about him in BSG, mainly because he had a habit of letting himself get pwned by other people (like at Baltar's trial).
