Fictional Worlds

(Anonymous) 2013-09-26 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
You get to be magically transported into the fantasy/fictional world of your choice. Where do you go?

Pokemon world. Maybe I haven't grown up since I was 9 years old, but I still daydream about Pokemon being real, and having some of my own.

If I'd get to be a PC/protagonist, probably Fire Emblem. If not but I get to be a wizard, Harry Potter. If it's go-as-you-are, Pokemon.

I know it's a metaphor for a brothel, but I always wanted to work in the bathhouse in Spirited Away.

It's not actually a metaphor for a brothel, it's inspired by the bathhouses Miyazaki grew up around in his hometown, aspects of which he considered "mysterious", and wrote several stories for, one of which turned into Spirited Away.

Harry Potter if I could have magic, Narnia if I couldn't.

Harry Potter is so VERY tempting. Except wait....having a wand that can seriously cause damage in the hand of an impulsive over emotional person with OCD.....nevermind

Equestria then. Because being a colorful pony sounds fun.

I have in my head this world I construct like some multidimensional Internet with a side of alternate Earth. When I'm bored, I daydream that I would walk in that world.

Dragon Age world - I know it's not a fun world, but I want to be an elven mage in it SO BADLY. DA2 style elves, of course, not DA:O's.

You want to be the most hated combination of class/race in an already crapsack world??? Why? Not trying to be an asshole by the way, just genuinely curious.

Well, I'd want to be a Dalish elf, so sort of cut off from human society.

I love so many fictional fantasy worlds that it's hard to chose between all of them. The Star Trek-verse, Discworld, Pokemon and Twilight Town of Kingdom Hearts are pretty much all tied for first, and I think I'd have to roll some dice or something in order to pick one.

Honorable mentions include the wizarding world, Ivalice, the Star Wars-verse, Tamriel, Middle Earth, Narnia, Lyra's world (from His Dark Materials), A:tLA-verse and the spirit-world of Spirited Away.

Oh dude. Well, I just spent about ten minutes trying to think of one where everything wasn't out to kill me, and I have to say the same thing I've said since I was about ten. I want to live in the world from Treasure Planet. Fucking steampunk spaceships and flying surfboards, heck yes.

Pokemon world!

As much as I like Homestuck and my magical girl animes, I gotta go with Pokemon because it's the least threatening and yet incredibly fun-looking. Ten-year-olds can easily overpower the worst criminals around, people are generally quite friendly (if a bit eccentric), and you can have a team of adorable murderbeasts for company. Perfect!

Pokémon, definitely. Although Hogwarts is awesome.

Pokemon, dammit. Some kids were upset that they never got their Hogwarts letter, all I wanted was the Professor to give me my starter.

I want to be a priestess in The Mists of Avalon (or other books in her series). Yep.

One Piece, I guess. It seems pretty fun, and of all the universes I like, the least likely to involve me being murdered out of hand by a monster or a supervillain along with countless other faceless civilians. I just gotta avoid the Marines, maybe eat a weird fruit, I'll be fine.

Pokemon world, yo.

Although, I'd probably end up not being a trainer.

Like... a lot of the comments here, Pokemon world. Although, like the above anon, I probably wouldn't be a trainer. Well, I'd start off, get a few gyms in, and go, "Nah, too much effort" and go home with my little team of Pokemon.

I'd also be extremely happy in Hyrule, preferably in a time when it's not being totally fucked over by various demons/overlords. Or Harry Potter, if I could be a witch. Or Star Trek in the 24th century - even if I wasn't in Starfleet, replicators and holodecks, holy shit.

I like a lot of worlds, heh. (...Would probably stay away from Night Vale, though!)

Ivalice! (From Final Fantasy XII and some other games)

Definitely my favourite fictional world. It has so many different climates and cultures, to mention a couple of things I love about it.

And if I couldn't go to Ivalice, then Gaia (Final Fantasy IX) or perhaps Skyrim.

Newford, from Charles De Lint's Newford books. A beautiful, chill city to just live and hang out in, full of awesome people, and also magic and animal spirits and all those kinds of things.

Middle-earth, specifically Numenor.

Tamriel, the Elder Scrolls 'verse. Gender politics there are so much less fucked up and the world has evolved with a lot of people being able to perform/have access to magic, so solutions for health/diseases/contraception would be way more progressive than what you'd expect from a semi-medieval-looking setting. Plus it's full of awesome history and lore. Things are a bit fucked up by Skyrim though, so I think I'd go in Morrowind's timeline.
