I know a lot of people that actually do have calluses on their hands. I do. You work a lot with your hands, you get calluses. If your fandom happens to be actiony, I'd expect it.

And don't most people lips get chapped in the winter?

It has nothing to do with logic (I know calluses are real things Jesus), and more to do with the fact that if hands are described in a fic, they will without fail, be "callused".

Same thing with the chapped lips, though sometimes they're "soft" instead.

It has nothing to do with sexy. It's a writing thing.
