Much as I like their dynamic, that would have been horrible for Haymitch and he probably would've ended up dying as he is not really in great physical condition.

Well Peeta couldn't swim and had one leg, so... all things considered, I think Haymitch might have been in better shape than he was. Not to mention Mags, who made it pretty far.

yeah i'm pretty sure he lost it in book 1 and got that fake leg at the end of book 1
