the thing is, you can't always tell when someone is drunk. for some people it's really obvious, but for others it isn't. one of my friends just gets really chattery and happy and social and not otherwise impaired when she's drunk... and then she just suddenly gets tired and falls asleep. you honestly can't tell that she's drunk until she gets to the falling asleep part.

And if you make a pass at her and she responds, I suppose you'd better administer a field sobriety test to make sure she can give consent, so as not to commit RAPE on her person.
