More like a case of growing up, she said it was her first f/f couple she was exposed to. She probably just loved seeing a reflection of herself on tv for the first time and it's much easier to gloss over unhealthy relationships when you're young and inexperienced. And once you mature and understand the real world and look back at it you now can realize all the unfortunate implications.
