ILU, please marry me.

Seriously, why is it so hard to just call it something else? Drabbles are 100-word stories; if it's got more or less call it a snippet, a ficlet, *anything* -- you wouldn't call any randomly metered poem a sonnet, either.

(If you do, you're an illiterate hack.)

+1. I left a drabble community because someone was posting fics longer than 100 words, calling them "drabbles" and no one called them out on their own shit.

And I'm pretty sure the rules of the community for drabbles were "fics around 100 words," not like, say, femslash100's rules allowing 250 word ficlets.

That's what I feel, too, subjective though it might be

Drabbles are 100 word stories to you. That isn't a universal rule or definition. Drabble has meant other things for decades and still does in different fandom spaces and geographical locations.

Nope.

Totally agreed. A drabble is 100 words, not 101 or 99 or 97480931401.

Snippet sounds like it's a preview or a piece of something bigger, and a ficlet, from what I've learned, is anything 500-1000 words. So then there's nothing for 100-500.

Flashfic?

I've seen exactly 200 words referred to as a "double drabble." So there's a chunk of your no-man's-land plotted out. ;)
