There are different ways of counting words, though -- and even more if you look at computer word-counters.

Oh yeah. One of my drabbles has exactly 100 words using some counters, exactly 98 using others. It's kind of annoying. *g*

Ergh. Computer word counters that give different word counts infuriate me... surely word count shouldn't be such a hard thing to make consistent!

I think the simplest ones count spaces, while others get a little more sophisticated.

It's REALLY REALLY not difficult to actually count 100 words. This is the worst fucking excuse for "drabbles don't really have to be exactly 100 words" that I have ever heard. JFC.

But there are still different ways of counting them. Do hyphens count as a word break?
