Just finished Free!, and am d'awwwing at the ending. I don't care what the haters say, I think it was hilarious, fun, and feel-good. Plus, mega-slashy. I'm not usually into sports anime (or high school anime) but I feel like I'm a better person for watching this one.

Free! Is finished?! :(

(always a couple episodes behind)

That was a short ass series... And now I feel sad knowing there's so little left. I guess it makes sense; it never seemed like a long term anime, but.... D:

Um, I'm not sure exactly, but season 1 is done. It was 12 episodes, though I think they plan to make a second season, too. There's still a lot more they can do with the series, I'm sure.

There's a few OVAs coming out for it, I think!

Ooo, okay! When you said finished I thought you meant "series finale" finished. And that made me sad. Even if they just plan on releasing a few OVAs like the anon above said, that's something!

I got distracted by other series (aka uchouten kazoku and ttgl), but I liked the half I saw. I should probably get around to finishing it.

Yes, it was incredibly d'aw-worthy. I enjoyed it, and it was a great experience having a new show during the summer!

I thought it was cute and a lot of fun, and the finale was very satisfying. It would be nice if it got a second season, but it could honestly end there, and it would be fine.

SPOILERS BELOW

Rei did not get enough hugs for giving up his spot in the relay. I mean, what an awesome friend thing to do. He officially graduated from beautiful butterfly to dazzling butterfly.

I have to say, that's the only thing that bugged the crap out of me for that last episode. I felt the worst for Rei the last few episodes, actually. He became so committed to making his friends happy at the expense of himself and it didn't seem like the others really took notice. I mean, they -did-, somewhat, but still. I hope there's a second season that doesn't make poor Rei seem like the half-broken fifth wheel.

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised by it too. I expected to enjoy the eye-candy, but I didn't expect the show to be so...actually good. I'm hoping that 'See you next summer' end card is a promise for a season 2 (if the rest of the series sells as well as the first volume the show will have better sales than some KyoAni shows that have gotten second seasons, so I'm thinking odds are good).
