i came in with a comment along the lines of "lol ok" but the number of people who have +1'ed this make me scratch my head. in the grand scheme of things does it really matter that much? everything is constantly evolving, including language.

If someone writes a poem with a 6/7/5 structure instead of a 5/7/5 structure, most people would say it's not actually a haiku, even if it tried to be. For a lot of us, the same principle applies with drabbles - the point of a drabble is to write a fic in 100 words, and that restriction is part of both the appeal and the challenge of such fics. If you are just writing a very short fic, then it loses the power of writing within such restrictions/challenges of word choice.
