OP Oh man, I should have put that in the original post. Sorry about that. I've done it again! What's happening to me?!

You are accidentally whole sentences. It happens to people. On the first page I completely read an anon comment wrong. You may notice I frequently answer secrets asking for clarification. I spent a good five minutes figuring out if I was reading your reply right and wondering what I missed because I tend to do it so often. So, you're not the only one who fails at online communication.

Although now I know why you're worried about coming off like an asshole. You kinda are one. *Shrug* As long as the person realizes that sometimes people just have bad days or are rough around the edges they shouldn't block you.

I wouldn't worry because all your options cause no problems for you. If they reply you get what you want. If they don't reply nothing happens. If they block you, you just can't send them PMs anymore but you can still follow them and reblog their stuff. So really, you're fine.

But if this has happened before apparently you know all this so you're just worrying needlessly.

Wait, where are you getting that OP is an asshole? Because I'm not seeing it, and it seems really harsh to just come out with that out of nowhere.

I said kinda? And only because of their reply to my first comment.

But then, I think I'm kinda an asshole too so maybe I just have a different way to define assholes.

ayrt Honestly I'm a bit confused by this whole thread. It's almost like you and OP were having two different conversations. But then I've been known to have problems interpreting tone on the internet so who the heck knows.

Nope, just wanted to confirm that FJ and OP's conversation makes no sense to me either. Major mixed wired somewhere along the line.

Oh thank you, I was re-reading it again and really beginning to doubt my sanity.

Re: awkward internet person

It's possible. I'm also really bad at interpreting what people are saying online. I admitted it above.

But from what I can tell they had a worry. I said they'd be fine 'cause I've done something similar and I'm fine. They had a snarky reply saying I can't read. (That's how I read it.) I then apologized. Then they apologized because it wasn't that I can't read but that they never wrote thing I was supposed to read. Then I wrote that they're kinda an asshole but that they will be fine with any outcome of their problem so they shouldn't worry but they must already know that since they've done this before. Apparently. Then you and I started talking. You asked me why I called them an asshole. I said I only called them kind of an asshole and it was because of their snarky reply but I’m an asshole so it’s no big deal. Then you replied you don’t fucking know what’s going on. Now I’m summarizing the whole thing from my incredibly biased perspective.

...But I again fully admit I'm bad at reading people online so I don't know man.

Okay, I see the problem. You read "Maybe a miracle has happened and I forgot to write in English. This has happened before when I've gotten excited." as a snarky reply saying you can't read. I did not get that at all. I read it as OP hoping they wrote the original message in non English and so the BNF wouldn't understand and it would somehow lessen the pain.

Oh shit. Really?

Holy fucking amaziballs.

Well, this changes the entire conversation.

haha, yeah. I mean I have no idea which interpretation is right, but at least this clears up the confusion from the thread!

Judging by the OP talking to me below you have the right interpretation. Man, I read that reply, like, over and over to make sure I was getting it right too. Even when I try hard I fail spectacularly. Oh well, at least it provided entertainment for, what, four people?

OP

(Anonymous) 2013-09-29 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I am also confused. And quite possibly an asshole. So as long as we've got that settled it's all good.

Re: OP

I'm not sure anymore. At least I'm an asshole too?

OP

(Anonymous) 2013-09-29 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
It's telling that this started as a conversation about awkward internet behavior. I think this is an great example of that. I should print it out and post it to my wall as a reminder to myself that tone on the internet is easily misinterpreted and I should be more clear. (joking)

Re: OP

[personal profile] forgottenjester 2013-09-29 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, I know right? Fuck, if you don't print it out I might for a laugh. I'll show it to my friends on how much of an idiot I am.

So, like, the only asshole here is me and I would be sad about that but I can't because I'm just so happy I understand now. (The anon above explained the confusion.)

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2013-09-29 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
It's going on the wall above my bed, like "See? See? This is how you come across to people when you don't think! Calm down!"

Re: OP

[personal profile] forgottenjester 2013-09-29 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I should maybe do the same but for, "you need better reading comprehension on the internet." Because this is the second time on F!S today I've gotten something like this wrong.

Then again, I read and reread your post many, many times to figure out what the fuck I was reading so I might just be a lost cause.

Edit: Just realized I haven't said sorry yet for reading you so wrong. So sorry about that. I really am.

DA (to above DA)

Yeah, I really don't know what happened in this thread. I thought OP's comment of 'maybe I forgot to write in English' made sense in the context, so I don't know why fogottenjester responded like they did. My main theory is that OP sent forgottenjester an IM and they've had some kind of conversation outside this thread, because otherwise there is no sense and no reason for FJ to call OP an asshole.

If it makes you feel better, I read OP's original response to you as snarky as well at first. The OP's second reply confused me because it didn't make any sense with the conversation I thought you guys had going, which was the only thing to make me go back and try to find another interpretation.

Yeah, things got confusing really quickly.

And thanks. It does. I feel really bad about it but don't know what to do other than say I'm sorry. :/ I think it also doesn't help that I keep doing this and reading other people's posts and secrets wrong. It's frustrating.

So yeah, thank you.
