The anime fucked up a lot of character development I considered important.

Not only replacing Armin with Mikasa, but also erasing the mutual respect Eren and Annie had by deleting the flashbacks. Also deleting the moment from the manga where Mikasa was feeling guilty about Levi's injury and used that as a motivation to deal with Annie, instead they thought it was better to keep the annoying as fuck Eren tunnel vision.

Someone behind the anime wanted to really push EreMika hard at the cost of other positive moments and it really bothers me :/

What the anime's done to Eren and Annie's relationship, and Annie's character in general, is a trainwreck to watch. But I have to ask:

Does it bother you equally that Levi gets shoehorned into the limelight at thematically inappropriate moments (last episode, and hogging the fuck out of the limelight in episode 22, among other incidents) for the sake of fan pandering? Or are you one of the Tumblr fangirls who's only upset at Mikasa getting more screen time and focus on her relationship with Eren than Armin because "the anime is threatening muh yaois!!1"? If so, here's some aloe for your misogynist butthurt over male characters' emotional kinship with women being privileged over their bromances with men. SnK is a refreshing subversion of that norm, fuck you for trying to revoke it.

DA here who's also bothered by the way they anime's pushing Eren/Mikasa, but I'm equally bothered by the way they're shoehorning Levi into the limelight, mostly because I couldn't muster a fuck about him. Jean's anime-only scenes too, to an extent, but given that I actually care about him I'm more okay with it. Still, couldn't some of those extra scenes be used for the Eren-Annie flashbacks instead?

Anyway, the way they're handling the female characters so far makes me wary for a second season. If they do continue the adaptation & mess up Ymir & Krista's relationship I'd probably ragequit the anime.

can you ever have any good faith discussion without some ignorant asshole saying its about fangirls who want yaoi (yeah you don't sound misogynistic at all). its not any more the norm that men get tender friendship moments in things more than they get with women. eren's kinship with mikasa wouldn't be erased if they kept the scene with him and armin, i can't believe people still hold up the tumblr yowee fangirl!!1 strawman to discredit opinions.
