I can't remember even seeing Apple computers used by Sherlock on the show - though I can't be sure they haven't been featured. Maybe Joan had a macbook? Anyway, they've definitely used obvious Microsoft tablets in the show, most recently in the season 2 premiere.

As for what computer products Sherlock uses, I think you could make an argument (that would be in line with his character) that he might not care what operating system his computer uses as long as it gets the job done - and his interest in computers might only extend to what he needs to know to solve cases. In any case, I can't see him getting into brand loyalty wars.

Apple desktop PCs (those are called Macs, right?) feature pretty prominently in a few episodes in season one. I don't recall Joan using any Apple products, but Sherlock the computers belonged to Sherlock.

I got a laugh out of seeing him use a Microsoft tablet and Windows 8 in the season premiere because of that. The Apple users I know are rather vocal in their Windows disdain, so Sherlock ~going back~ to Windows was funny to me.

I am so sure that he used one of those new windows 8 PCs with the touchscreen in the first season. I only watched it a few weeks ago!!

He did, I'm sure. I think it's the episode the secret image is from. He's sitting on the toilet in the bathroom (not actually using it) and Joan comes in. I don't remember what they were taking about, but Sherlock snaps the keyboard to the tablet and there's a lingering shot of the Windows 8 display.
