//Turning him down is what you call a stupid career move.//

Turning him down is what I call a career move with integrity.

Integrity vs getting work is a pretty easy decision for most people. Hint: Most people don't choose integrity.

That is not integrity. It's an example of what Wilhelm Stekel was talking about when he said "The mark of the immature man is that he wants to die nobly for a cause, while the mark of the mature man is that is wants to live humbly for one."

Say Joss asked you to work on a show with him tomorrow. You could turn him down, listing all your reasons you dislike him, then go tell everyone what you did. What would happen then? You'd feel good for an hour or two maybe because in your head, you did something, but in reality, you'd have helped nobody and only benefited your ego. Nothing would change, but you would still have something to complain about and hate. If that's what you would want.

Or you could accept the offer, and once you're working with him, show him a different/better way to portray X-situation/character so that the end product is something that can be at least a step in the direction of making things better. Maybe it wouldn't be perfect, but at the end of the project, you can be proud of yourself for being the change you want to see in the world, big or small. If that's what you would want.

Agreed wholeheartedly.

The big jumps are easiest to see, but a lot of small steps will get you further in the end.
