Yeah he was feminist when Buffy and maybe Angel first rolled out, but even by the time Buffy and Angel wrapped feminism had moved on. Whedon hasn't, he's still writing his female characters like it was still the mid-90s. His moment has passed, and he needs to update his dialogue and character toolbox if he wants to stay relevant. Buffy seems so damn patronizing now with all its "you go girl" and the whole "look at the blonde bimbo who is secretly a hero, your mind=blown at how special she is".
