Word. I try to be accepting about how other people relate to canon, but I've had bad experiences in reality with people arbitrarily deciding someone is supposed to play X role in their life, and completely ignoring what the person was actually like / getting mad at them for not playing along. It seems really invasive, disrespectful, and self-centered to me to edit someone else's personality in your mind this way, so it sort of squicks me even when people are doing it to fictional characters.
