It really makes me sad how many people fail to see just why a drabble is called a drabble and the meaning of the word should not change :/ The whole point of writing a drabble is a challenge, a writing exercise, to limit yourself to an *exact* number of words and still get a story told. To have to rewrite it over and over when the wordcount isn't right, to think of new ways of putting things across so it will fit that exact wordcount. It's not just "writing something under 1000 words". Anyone can do that, but not anyone can write a drabble.
