y'all need to sit yoselves down and respect the damn cinnamon rolls

srsly though comparing the writing unfavorably to Twilight strikes me as ridiculous. I can easily see how someone could dislike the writing--it's first-person with lots of stream-of-consciousness rambling and asides, but as far as worldbuilding, character development, and scary badassitude of vampires? No comparison.

I also GREATLY appreciated how McKinley SHOWED us how awesome Rae was while Rae herself was telling us how boring and uncool she was, from her perspective, as opposed to Bella Swan who we are constantly TOLD is amazing while her actions and reactions are actually quite the opposite.
