Hell, I ignore canon love interests all the time for the sake of shipping. This would be just one more non-canon ship to prefer over the canon ship for me.

I usually have no problem as the majority of my ships aren't canon. I actually expected to walk away shipping them, but I don't. Maybe I'll change my mind after more eps have aired.
