I don't know what it is, but Hannah annoys me. Maybe it's that when she was introduced it was almost like a fantasy- sexy black widow in short shorts. You know that cliche? The 'sexy jailbait badgirl' cliche? I feel like THAT'S how Hannah was written at the get go. And then it was like they decided, 'Wait, what if Hannah was just, like, a victim, which makes everything she's done FINE and now Dexter can have a girlfriend?' and I don't buy that Hannah's NOT an asshole. I mean, she POISONED a woman to inherit her greenhouse. That wasn't done to save herself. That was coldblooded greed. Now it's like they decided, 'Wait, wouldn't she be a perfect wife option for Dexter? She could, like, make FOOD and watch Harrison and be SUPPORTIVE' and that's just...I honestly couldn't remember if Hannah had ever MET Harrison before. That just bugged the shit out of me throughout the 8th season.

I mean, couldn't they have killed Hannah instead of Deb? It's clear they wanted to kill someone Dexter loved but UGHHHHH.

Oh my fucking god, yes.

I hated Hannah. I hated that Hannah got a happy ending. I hated that the writers forgot that she was written as a fucking psychopath. Not a person who killed in self defense, or who was manipulated or coerced into killing, but a person who killed opportunistically. A person who admitted she liked killing. And she didn't have the twisted sense of right and wrong that Dexter had. I can't believe Deb and Dexter believed she was a safe "mother" for Harrison. It seems fully in character for her to use him or kill him to her advantage- and fully out of character for her NOT to.

Hannah and Dexter should have died. Deb and Harrison should have lived happily ever after. And, because I do kinda like Quinn, he could've been there too.

But, yeah. Fuck the finale of that show.

Thank god it's not just me! I thought I was going crazy or just way too critical. It's weird, though, because Hannah hits on some of my favorite tropes but she just never worked for me.

No. Me an my fiancé absolutely loathed that Hannah got a happy ending and Deb's lifeless corpse was unceremoniously dumped overboard.

Hannah might've worked better if she had more redeeming qualities. But, she was a psycho murderer and then all of a sudden she's better because she's a victim of domestic violence? Apparently, magically escaping deserved imprisonment and then being abused by a spouse cures your psychopathy and renders you a good role model and mother for a five year old?

Yesssss! The way Dex put her overboard! That bugged me. It wasn't fair that he should just dump her overboard like one of his victims!

wut. They killed Deb? Fuck am I glad I stopped watching that show.

Ugh, I know. Poor Deb! I'm glad she was at least trying to do something good and heroic when she got shot. She was really tailspinning for a while there.

But, but, Harrison LOVES Hannah. :'(

Yeah, no. Honestly, Dexter had been limping for a while. This season should've been about his friends at the station finding out, and him finally being exposed as a killer. That's what we all wanted to see, not a random psychologist who suddenly knew Harry and Mastsuda's daughter's boobs.

It's especially noticeable how bad the show became when you pull it up alongside Breaking Bad. I know that's a bit of an unfair comparison, but even if you take that into account, just the vast difference in quality is staggering.

Yeah, I know. The part where Harrison whispered to Dex that he loved Hannah. I rolled my eyes so hard I fuckin pulled something.

I did like some of the storylines this season but just UGH. The finale. Dammit, no.

Yeeeeah pretty much. The second Hannah came back into it the season REALLY started to spiral. You simply can't turn 'psychopathic murderer' into 'sweet loving lady'. Shit don't work.

Not to mention the finale looks like a frayed rope in terms of loose ends. How does nobody notice Harrison is gone? He has siblings and grandparents who would be kicking up a major fuss. What happened with Deb's dudebro boss after he woke up on the bus? Are we seriously expected to believe that Hannah escaped with Dexter's kid and not a single person noticed she stabbed a guy with a freaking needle? There wasn't a manhunt for that kid after Dexter showed up dead? Why does nobody question where Deb's body went?

It's just a huge stupid mess. I'm really glad it's over.

I know! I was like, 'Yet again, Astor and Cody get screwed.' They'll never know what happened to their brother!

Ugh, fuck the whole last season, to be honest. Like you said, Hannah wasn't a honorable killer like they were trying backpedal, but someone killing because she liked it. They should have left her in jail and have someone finally realize that Dexter is a killer. This Dexter was a careless fuckup instead of the meticulous and calculating killer he was during the first seasons.

I hope he gets flattened by a falling tree. It wouldn't be any more stupid than the finale.

Oh god, this. Jeeze, you people had this great character and then you just ruined him for no good reason! Who does that?

Man, that show was too good to end with that shitshow of a season.

I honestly don't know a goddamned person who didn't think the series finale of Dexter was terrible.

I expected it to be EPIC because they said in season 6 that the next 2 seasons were totally mapped out. But the series finale felt like a season finale, all unanswered questions.

Eh, I had low expectations because frankly, the writing for the series has been subpar since about season 3/4 imo, but it failed to meet even those low expectations.
