I think it might have something to do with when it came out. Like, I was born the year Watchmen came out, so I grew up with what followed in its footsteps, so I don't see it as impressive. 2001 is the same - if you've grown up with sci-fi that came after it it probably doesn't seem as great, but at the time it was revolutionary.

Nah, it was pretty boring back in the day too. I don't remember many people liking it even back then. The praise and positive reception seemed to come much later.

I tried to read the comic. Bored me to tears. I liked the movie.

NAYRT, but I was born a year before the comic came out, and I loved it. I still think the movie's ending is better, though.
