I would have assumed it was a generic D/s universe fic and would be unlikely to comment as it's fanfiction, not source material. Not something I usually start looking at critically

eh, it's still not a thing I'd get worked up over. It's their fanfic with some generic dom/sub tropes and the usual OOC I am guessing. You had your AN ?implication? so it's not like it was a surprise.
