Different strokes, etc. For one, I love this movie. Yes, it has some serious pacing issues. But it's breath-takingly beautiful, specially if you consider the year it was made and with which techniques.

It may have helped I read the book first, so I wasn't WTFing my way though the final scenes after the 15 min. acid trip Kubrick put us through. And all the interactions between David Bowman and Hal 9000 are chilling to the bone for me. The final scenes with them? Daisy, Daisy? I still shiver when I remember.

Look, seriously? Maybe it's not your cup of tea, and that's ok! Maybe you did understand it, and still didn't like it, which is totally possible and legit. Happens a lot with Sci-Fi. But my friend: it's NOT an overrated movie. That, or we just have wildly different concepts on what counts as "overrated", and in that case, we'll just have to agree to disagree and end this here.
