I read this after seeing it recommended in an LJ community. It was OK-ish but definitely didn't live up to the hype (and the constant mention of the cinnamon rolls sure didn't help, lol). I have another book by her, Deerskin, that I haven't read yet but after reading Sunshine and seeing someone mention a certain gross element of Deerskin in another fandom secret I'm not sure if I dare try it.

Late response is late so I don't know if you'll see this BUT...

That book is based on the fairytale where the king wants to marry his daughter because she looks just like her mom. And, from what I remember from reading it as a young teen, there's (incestuous) rape, pregnancy from rape (but the baby is lost, if that matters to you), and some sort of magic involving menstral blood, which I don't remember the specifics of beyond something to do with it changing her hair color/looks, her putting it in her hair to change herself back to her proper looks, and a general sense of revulsion.

If the warnings don't put you off, you might like it. But it's NOT one of her better books IMO.
