I'm comfortable saying that Gold is the villain there (and I love him because he's a villain, not because he can be "saved"), but Hook isn't a GOOD person, either, let's be honest...

Rumples wife wasn't exactly a grade-A example of humanity either. There was some serious parental neglect of Bae from her, and before he went all dark one she was treading the line of domestic abuse with Rumples. There wasn't a good apple in the entire barrel IMO.
