(Anonymous) 2013-10-02 12:45 am (UTC)(link)Agreed that language changes (and on an individual scale, it really doesn't bother me at all when someone uses the word literally to mean figuratively), but it's hard for me to agree that the meaning of a word that literally means:
1. in the literal or strict sense
2. in a literal manner; word for word: to translate literally.
3. actually; without exaggeration or inaccuracy
Can change to mean something else, or it's (no joke intended) literally not the same word anymore.
But at the end of the day, yes language changes and evolves, it's not my decision, and to be bothered by little things like that just seems pointless. :)
