But, chances are, your hair didn't end up looking like Skye's. She always looks like she's walked straight out of the salon. It's hard to maintain silky curls at the best of times, let alone living in a van with (presumably) no running water.

Yes, but everyone on TV looks like they walked right out of a salon regardless of whether it makes any sense at all for the characters. Why judge this one more than others?

Because she supposedly lives in a van? And even on a TV show riddled with pretty people, we expect her to look a little like the basic necessities of life *she said from her privileged position* are hard to come by on a daily basis?

on AtS, Fred lived in Pylea for five years and when we met her, she looked like the basic necessities of life were extremely hard to come by. Girl looked rank, tbh.

But still nerd-cute, so asshat was happy, I'm sure.

I hate the preponderance of silky curls on TV. Especially on characters who are supposed to be low/no maintenance. It doesn't take much- put their hair in a ponytail or leave it straight but styling it the same way for every character is just distracting.

One of the things about Fringe that I loved was Olivia's hair and general look (simple ponytails, plain clothes, minimal make-up). She did really look to me like someone who doesn't spend a lot of the time taking care of the way she looks, which seems reasonable to me considering her line of work (andd personality I guess).

I miss Olivia so much.

Some people have naturally curly/wavy hair, but the kind of silky curls that you see on TV isn't entirely realistic for people who aren't putting in a lot of effort or fresh from the salon. I am relatively low maintenance about my wavy curls, managing them with lots of conditioner, relatively little shampoo (often using vinegar to treat scalp itchiness and forgoing shampoo entirely), a leave-in moisturizer, and then letting them air-dry. They still won't look perfect, though. There's usually a little friz and the curls look a bit different depending on where on my head they are, rather than all having the same diameter as they would if I were using a curling iron.

It drives me nuts when people that shouldn't have their hair loose (CSI, cops on the job) wear it loose.

Anne Hathaway as Catwoman bugged the shit out of me. Hair just everywhere in a fistfight, begging to be yanked.

That was my main issue with her look.
