Deathless

[personal profile] lex_antonia 2013-10-02 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't read much Fantasy, but my best friend does, and I'm considering getting her Deathless as a present. It keeps popping up on my tumblr dash and looks interesting.

Good idea or not?

Hadn't heard of it before, but after some quick googling I think it looks pretty interesting! It didn't seem like fantasy to me though, but more like a historical story with some folklore and supernatural elements. But I could be totally off *shrugs*

Either way, I'm sure you friend would be happy to get such a thoughtful present!

Depends on your friend, really. Valente's writing style is so singular, almost more poem than prose. It's not exactly a love it or hate it situation, but if your friend doesn't go for that style, it's likely her stuff will be a slow read.
