This is why watching the Avengers was like watching Buffy. Tony Stark pretty much said all of Buffy's lines. You could have dropped Buffy into Tony's place and the dialogue would have still fit like a glove.

Nope. Don't think Buffy's lines are all that funny and think Tony's are hilarious, even though they're both Joss. SMG doesn't have RDJ's delivery. You're kidding yourself if you think that.

Sorry, I guess I should have asked YOU before forming MY opinion.

And no, sweetie, Stark's lines and delivery was like watching BtVS all over again. Sans the newness.

That was my problem with Tony in The Avengers too.

In the Iron Man movies, he did come across as a witty and egocentric guy.
In The Avengers, he came across as a one-note idiot who was always trying to come up with one-liners to sound clever.

that's how i felt about the entire avengers team tbh. most of the conversations seemed to go like this:

[tony stark says something witty]
[steve rogers responds with something heroic/patriotic]
[natasha and clint throw in random observations]
[thor is confused/amused by humans]
[bruce banner looks lost]

I agree with the previous two comments.

da

agreed

to think that fanfiction writing of all things spoiled me for the movie

(i watched the movie late)

Man, I disagree completely. I loathed Iron Man because it was such an arrogant asshole (and the idiotic stripper flight attendant thing made me so mad I nearly walked out). I thought he was likable in the Avengers because he wasn't the most obnoxious human being who's walked the earth.
