I'm gonna need some context for the terms used here. What does "magic" mean in this context?

It's usually anons that make the character RP'd have some sort of effect. Like say, there's this character, lets call them Charlie, and they get a magic!anon in their asks telling them that, for certain time (let's say a week), they are a woman. So Charles will be a woman for a week.
Edited (unless anon already knew that and I'm making a fool out of myself. :8) 2013-10-04 02:23 (UTC)

They post as Anonymous and start their ask message as MA or Magic Anon and follow with. "Character is opposite Gender for next 24 hours." or "Character is now a vampire." or they are de-aged, have cat ears etc. And the character blog will act in accordance to what had happened to them.

Basically, an anon will send the blog an ask like 'magic!anon: X character is now a mermaid/man for 24 hours' and the character (should the blog owner wish) must now answer all asks in the next 24 hours as if the character was turn into a mermaid/man.

Oh. Yeah, that's kind of annoying. Could maybe be fun in some contexts, though.

It's a tumblr roleplay thing.

i've rped on tumblr before and i feel you. i made it a point to only accept ones that were events inspiration: for instance, 'your character gets a terrible cold' or 'your character finds 100 bucks on the sidewalk' and then writing what i believed was a canon reaction/rp starter involving that.

I wouldn't mind these kinda of magic anons. My ask blog gets stupid shit like "you are a dog for 15 asks" wtf no
diabolicalfiend: Ray and Fraser staring at each other before finding a baby on the backseat (don't look)

Yeah this is why if I do a magic anon, only responders to the open thread I set up about it will get the magic anoned character (and even then I'm choosy about which I'll activate such as morality flips, which is awkward because my characters tend towards the grey anyway). The other threads will continue to have my character as is.

It can be good to explore the limits of the character, but overdoing it, like overdoing anything else, gets tedious.

Sorry I wasn't in yesterday to comment anon, but I'm totally with you. I hate magic anons and I ignore any I get. I hate how it turns an ask blog into an OOC piece of crap.
