Cassie Clare thread made me curious.

I'm a writer. I've technically had two things published. I've gotten an award for writing too.

Why?

I write, but I've never been published [in fairness, I've also never bothered to even try to get published.]

Well, define writer?

I've had a couple of articles published, but they are all scientific. No fiction.

and that's not writing?

I've been paid for children's stories, and editing.

I write fic and I'm trying (in between life and things) to write an original novel.

Plus there's the seagull thing, which most of the plot outline, all of the worldbuilding, and like half of the characterization for which is done. No words yet, though.

I write, but I haven't had anything that I've written published. I have had my translations of other people's writing published, though.

I have done writing workshops before as well with some original stuff.

I write music? I haven't done it in years for personal reasons but I've won a few local awards and my work had been performed on stage by internationally renowned classical musicians.

Part of my job is writing industry articles - so yeah, I'm a 'published writer' who gets paid to produce words. I've also done srs bsns blogging in the past (not made money at it though) and may well do so again in the future.

Fictionwise, I mostly stick to fanfic. In a normal year I write about 75k of fiction and that would be like 90% fanfic. This year it's been way less due to being really busy with work - only about 20k so far. :/

Do you mean published writer or non-published writer? I write, and have a ton of fic out there, but nothing published.

I write things. I prefer to write fiction things, but I am currently writing non-fiction things (uncredited) for money. I aspire someday to write fiction things, credited, for money.

I've done everything from writing a textbook, to copy editing for an insurance company, to actual short stories that I just haven't shopped around for publishers yet.

My sister and I have a few shared world media things, and we plan to push them through the internet once we get out shit straightened.

Me! I write fanfiction mostly, but my thesis is out there along with a few technical papers, and I've been published in a few community college literary magazines before (not that that's hard.) :D

I write fic, original short stuff, and I'm gonna go for NaNo again this year and maybe actually win this time, goddamnit.
