Color Test

There's a test online that you can take to determine if you any color vision deficiency. I thought it was kind of fun, and ended up scoring a 3 (Perfect score is zero, so yay? I guess) Here's the test

16 but eh. I already knew I have trouble telling really close hues apart [which is a bit of a problem when the family business deals in a sort of art. : /]

I got an 18.

Apparently I have a lot of difficulty with the space right between green and blue.

I got an 8. It's frustrating that they don't tell you what the average score is for your age group.

32, but I might have gotten better if I spent longer on it? I was already seeing spots from staring at the screen.

I wonder whether monitor quality/settings make a difference.

4

:o

I don't understand these numbers, though?

Best score for your gender and age range: -160
Highest score for your gender and age range: 198857

Got a 6 the first time and then retook it and got a 0.

:D

Zero. Color is my mutant superpower.

...74.

Is this something I should be concerned about?

I think that test is broken, because I've taken real colour blindness tests and definitely have some red-green perception issues, yet I can score in the low single digits (last time I tried I got 3) on that thing.

It's possible the test does not use the same blocks of red and green hues that you have trouble distinguishing. The test uses a very limited palette imho, the "red" is more like pink-beige and the "green" is more like tan. None of the colors, except for a few shades of blue and purple, are what I'd be able to mix using primary colors.

Are they really more tan and pink? The top row look completely red and green to me, hahah.

It might be my laptop monitor? I paint watercolor and none of the colors are what I'd get from mixing magenta, cyan and yellow. They are too dull, for one, too flat and dull. I'm not sure how to explain it. There's nothing that looks anything like leaf green. :(

they look that way to me too, but i have low brightness in my monitor

I did this last year? I think? And got a 4. Had trouble with some midrange yellow-greens, but that's it.

I wish the test had some better data on how well people score - averages or a bell curve or something. Telling me the high and low scores isn't helpful or interesting because of course there will be people who have perfect color vision and people who have very, very bad color vision. Where most people fall is the important point.

Or a median, since it looks like scores are going to have along right tail which could really throw things off.
