Live-action/books v. comics/manga (and a roundabout fic request)

(Anonymous) 2013-10-05 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know what it is, but for some reason I have a super-hard time getting into fanfic for comics/cartoon/manga etc. I guess it's like, when I read, I see real people, and with live-action source material, I've got a real person. With books, I can picture anyone I want. But something about having the partial picture that other sources provide just messes with my mental images.

Does anyone else have this problem?

And can anyone rec me some good fic from live-action sources (not really feeling books right now)? No bandom/RPF.

I like a lot of visually oriented fandoms and don't read fanfic. It's probably different a bit different from your case, because the interest wasn't there in the first place.

Absolutely. I used to be into manga and found reading fic for it disconcerting because I couldn't imagine drawn characters doing shit. It wasn't a problem when I read fic for live action stuff.
