Depends on why you're interested, I'd say. They both have their good and bad points.

As someone who still can't forgive the anime for what they did to Annie, agreed. The anime may have screwed up big time on some parts but it does have kick-ass music, for one.

I'm a couple episodes behind on the anime, but I've read (maybe?) up to the current manga chapter and I don't recall there being huge deviations. Just better pacing, and doing things chronologically more than using jumpy flashbacks.

I really appreciate the chronological ordering, I would have been super confused if I started with the manga first.

And the art is nicer.

I like that they made Jean and Marco seem like closer friends. But I'm disappointed with what they changed with Annie... maybe they'll add something in about that later? Hopeful thinking?

What did they change about Annie? I read the manga after episode 23 or so since it followed closely to the anime. I didn't know it diverged from it so much. Hm.

Annie's and Eren's battle in the finale episode deviates quite a bit from the manga. And it's where Annie's characterization is changed from the manga (arguably, Eren's too). I don't want to give you any spoilers though.

In the manga they made a point of Annie offering to help Eren with his hand-to-hand. I think that bonding time was pretty crucial to why Eren was so reluctant to fight her or believe she could be the titan. And I don't know she just seemed a little more desperate and scared in the manga I guess.

The manga and anime are very similar, but the anime gets embellished. It's mostly just little things that I feel get missed. But I like those little things.

The anime sticks pretty close to the manga until the last few episodes.
