(Anonymous) 2013-10-05 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)The OP has said they believe the above, though, and see no reason to write. So what's the reason for doing anything? I bothered because I'm curious. When everything is compared to "humanity will wipe itself out," there doesn't seem to be much point in anything including making a secret about it!

(Anonymous) 2013-10-05 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)Crap. That's an ambiguous "it".
No. I am neglecting the original fiction in favor of the fanfiction. (And it might not take a couple decades to finish the original fic, but the publishing?)
Re: OP
(Anonymous) 2013-10-05 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)Publishing could also be done fairly quick. I mean, not always. A lot of it depends on luck. But say you had a complete work and got a good agent, it wouldn't take them two decades to find a publisher. But it depends on what you want for it. It doesn't HAVE to be a published book. You could just put it online if you wanted, or self-publish it as an ebook (which is perfectly legitimate).
But, do what you want? If you don't want to get into a long thing because you want the instant gratification, that's totally fine. Nobody's forcing you to write. Just don't look back on this 20 years from now with regret.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-05 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)Although, if it took me a couple of decades to write a single novel, I'd probably give up too.
