Then find a different group. Good God, there are thousands of them out there. If you're going to give up because one didn't click for you, then I shudder to think what happens when you hit a speed bump in the actual writing.

Dealing with speedbumps in writing is so much easier than dealing with something involving talking to real live people I don't know. It doesn't even compare.

This so much. Most of the time I'm quite happy to just continue writing in my own sandpit without chatting to writers. Involving real people in the process is often just too stressful. Then again, I don't share OP's feelings.
