AAAAAAAAHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOO (et cetera)

Do you ever associate a song with a fictional character/event/relationship so strongly that every time you hear it, you immediately picture them? Does this ever happen because you saw a fanvid using that song which was just that good? Because something in the lyrics irresistibly reminded you of that fictional thing? Because of the context in which you first heard it? Some other reasons? Gimme examples and explanations people!

Also, whether this association is annoying or not.

This=Thomas Nightingale:

And yes, this is annoying, because it's a song about a Russian soldier who ends up in a labour camp. WWII and Tiger tanks are the only things it has in common with Nightingale's backstory. The stupid process of headcanoning >.< Why don't I ever associate this song with Varvara Sidorovna?

This=The Hobo from the Polar Express:

Actually, all the TSO songs. I think they're perfect for him.

I have yet to find something to associate with either Bell or Doyle (or rather, their fictional selves).

"Somebody That I Used To Know" by Gotye always makes me think of Elliot/Olivia from SVU, because somebody posted some E/O fanart with the lyrics around the time Chris Meloni (Elliot) left the show, and it pretty much exactly fit the way they wrote his character out. It's a little annoying only because that song was so overplayed for a long time.

"Littlething" by Jimmy Eat World makes me think of Alex/Olivia (I ship Olivia with everyone okay?) but I've never seen it used it any fanworks. That one doesn't annoy me at all.

This happens to me all the time because I watch a LOT of fanvids. I'm almost always okay with it because if I associate a song with a vid, I definitely enjoy it.

Like Shattered by Trading Yesterday. I've heard this song a million times and I've seen it used in many different fandoms, but I always think of the SPN vid where I heard it first. http://youtu.be/zA4_RliN98s

And when I hear 'Love the Way you Lie' I always think of Sherlock/John. http://vimeo.com/38068478 It's pretty much a perfect video, imo, and again, though I've seen the song used in different fandoms this is the one that stuck for me. It just seemed so fitting considering their dysfunctional relationship.

Hell, yes. I have an entire playlist for Twin Peaks by now, and I didn't even try. A few examples:

I like - Divine Comedy. Truman/Cooper. Because despite "sexy" being one of the most common words in the lyrics, it still is kinda cute and innocent.

Dream a little dream - Mama Cass. Audrey; because I can picture her dancing to this wistful tune. Plus, the mention of night, dreams and sycamore trees just fit with some of the imagery of the show.

Man on the Moon - R.E.M. The police crew, and Andy Brennan in particular.

Songs that make me think of the show due to them being incorporated in TP fanworks are Otis Redding's "Sitting on the dock of the bay" and Kate Bush's "Running up that hill".

I could go on, but that'll do for now. I think I proved my point X).

There was this Evangelion fanvid matched up to The Pet Shop Boys "It's a Sin" and now I can't unsee it when that song gets played.

Oh and I always think of Optimus Prime whenever I hear "The Touch", but pretty sure that was intentional.

The song "I Can't Wake Up To Save My Life," reminds me so much of Henry and Cynthia in Silent Hill 4 that I would swear it was written about them, except it was written way before Silent Hill 4 came out. But it's not even that it reminds me of a feeling or a mood, it reminds me of actual game details!

For anyone who is familiar with the game, here are the lyrics:

(It's not annoying though. Even if it did annoy me, I never hear Richard Thompson unless I go looking for him.)

At this point, Carry On Wayward Son by Kansas will forever remind me of Dean Winchester. They used the song in the first season in the second to last episode and it stunned me how much of it sounded like Dean. Then, they used it in every season finale as they recapped the season.

Yep, this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmDT1d8dJtM I'd never heard the song til I saw this video, and now it always immediately brings Supernatural and Team Free Will to mind. (Which is really funny, because this is so not the kind of classic rock song that the show's soundtrack is built on.)
