Half my flist bores me

... and I keep adding new friends from memes who appear to share my fandoms/interests, but they end up talking about the same mundane things I don't care about.

I don't mind real life posts, although I would like more fandom because that's the whole point of having an LJ account, and I don't hold anything against them, they can post whatever they want. But I already scroll past enough Facebook statuses because idgaf what Joey ate for breakfast. Now it's on my LJ feed too.

Am I a shitty friend?

Not to me, you're not. That's part of the reason I've basically left LJ. I'm mostly on tumblr now, I only post about fandom or media, and I only want friends who do that (the two former LJ friends I have on tumblr as well are of a similar mindset). I get enough real life in real life.

I still prefer LJ to tumblr, honestly. So I guess neither really satisfy what I'm looking for these days...

Fandom is the whole point of having an LJ account? Since when? LJ's always been a journal site. It's okay to use it primarily or only for fandom, but that's not the only thing it's for.
