Favourite old school games
(Anonymous) 2013-10-05 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)I also loved: The Games - Winter Challenge, Sokoban, Cosmo's Cosmic Adventures, Secret Agent and King's Quest VII. I also spent hours watching my brother play Golden Axe, the very old Command & Conquer, Duke Nuk'em and Wing Commander 3. Ah, good times.
What are your most nostalgic game memories?

Also in the early/mid-80s, when a bunch of our friends also had Ataris, one of them had Combat and every single time he said he was the US and whoever his opponent was, we were the Russians. Ahh, the 80s...
And in the arcades, Double Dragon. My brother and I ate that game up. Beat it so many times, and we both agreed that it sucked that you had to fight each other at the end - come on, you're brothers who just battled your way through a gang of martial arts thugs to save the girl, why would you then fight OVER her? - so by mutual decision we took turns beating it, while the other person just jumped onto the spikes. XD

(Anonymous) 2013-10-06 03:09 am (UTC)(link)I still love a ton of the old DOS games. I will DL and play some every so often.
The old text games Hugo's House of Horrors, I played those so many times.

There are fan-made mods as an end to the series that are quite fun. You even get to fight Mortimer McMire in the end!

Under each of the titles is a link to the main article for that game which will give you a download link on the right-hand side in the quick-facts section.
To play these games, you'll need to run them through a shell. I use DOSBox, and I've never had any problems with graphics or sound or lag on Windows or Linux. I have no idea how they'd perform on a Mac.
