This worries me about the future of fan activity

The impact of this copyright restriction would probably not be restricted to Sherlock Holmes-fanfic. Personally, I like fan activity and (relative) freedom online too much not to be upset by the thought of a possible ban on these things.

not that these measures are good or anything

but the fact is that fan work is at best a legal grey area as it is already, so i see no reason why this would lead to a crackdown on fan activity. if they wanted to crack down on the vast majority of fan work, they could do it pretty easily now. i don't think they want to and i don't think these measures are designed to, or would be used to, go after fan work.

that said, you should still oppose these measures, because they're awful. but i don't think the concern over fanfiction is really justified, whether it be sherlock holmes fanfiction or what have you.

...I was kind of expecting more than a picture with an assertion at that link. Some evidence that it actually would have any relevance to fanfic, please?
