This. I'm glad my friends write lots of fanfic, but if it's for fandoms I'm not familiar with, I'm not going to read it just because they're my friends. Likewise, I don't expect them to read my fic that's for fandoms they're not interested in.

Being a friend does not automatically mean someone is interested in everything you do or produce, and that's fine. That's normal.
