...but then, I don't think any gender identity should be a big deal, so I'm not a very good person to ask.

Tbh, this. Unless a kid has problems with their gender identity, I think it is really weird to pay a lot of attention to this particular aspect of their life.

(that being said, I'm clueless as to what the actual secret is talking about, so that's hypothetical)

i think it's less about the child and more about the parents' reaction, honestly. it says a lot about them both, seeing how open they are to shiloh's preferences. it gets a good example for others.

you're right that these things shouldn't be a big deal, but the entire rest of the world making it a big deal when someone doesn't fit squarely into societal norms doesn't give us much of a choice.
