The German versions were kind of cute sometimes, just not always as pun-y. I really liked "Verleihnix" - the fish monger. It basically translates into "won't lend out stuff".

I wonder how useful Asterix is for learning other languages? It's in pretty much every language and most of the appeal is wordplay.
