I think some people are more dedicated to causes that resonate more deeply with them than other causes might, and that's fine. It doesn't mean there aren't going to be other people who get as worried about political movements as you do fanfiction. I myself rarely contribute to charities (mostly because Malaysia is made up of more scams than a fishy website) unless its something I really worry about a lot.
