The triology that starts with Inkheart. Don't let yourself be fooled by the awful, OOC movie. The books are really awesome. A++ Would Rec. Other stuff by that author, too. But Inkheart has a female protagonist, little-to-no romance, and while it's not that action-y, I'd say it has a nice dose of adventure.
