It's okay, your point still stands about names in fiction. It's a good point. Whether the writers came out and said it or not doesn't matter, it's obvious they wanted to give a certain impression based on the name. If they didn't, they were either trying to make a very un-obvious point about race and names, or they were just lazy.

Thanks! Maybe it's because I'm a wannabe-author as well, but the thing about names in fiction is... they don't work like names do in Real Life. There's always a reason when a (good) author chooses a name for a character; and if they had wanted to make Carlos's race unclear or even default-to-white, they would have gone for something more "neutral" (from a US standpoint) than a typical Hispanic/Latino name.

Hell, if we go by World History, he could even be from Filipino descent. But that makes him still a POC!
